At temperatures of approximately freezing and colder it can become impossible to add any fuel at all* to the tank. This has occurred on several occasions which we have documented in detail. The car has been seen by Toyota Service departments three times for this problem but nothing has been done and Toyota says that the problem cannot be duplicated. (This makes sense as they have never allowed the car to cold soak in freezing temperatures prior to testing...) My offer to have a Toyota technician come to a filling station with me to witness the problem was declined. The only "solution" offered was that I should be "instructed on how to properly fuel the car".
I have requested Toyota USA to either (1) Repair the car at Toyota's expense or, (2) Offer a reasonable trade-in on the car. To date I am getting the silent treatment from Toyota.
* By "at all" I mean zero - no fuel. The filling pump clicks off before even reaching 0.1 gallon.
