I purchased a 2009 Prius in this summer. I thought my car would have a great gas mileage because I commute to work daily. The distance I drive to work is about 55 miles per way. It is 110 miles round trip each day. For some reason, I had to re-fill gas every 2nd day which meant gas is filled up i 3x a week. Something is wrong with this picture. I set my speed limit in 75 mph on the highway. The speed limit on open highway is 75 mph. I read some complaints and recommendations; it tells me that if I can set the speed limit under 65 mph, I would save 5 mph gas. I do not think I would ever want to drive on 65 mph....
I have noticed that the gas gauge is coming down to almost empty so quickly if I drive uphill. I thought the battery could save gas but it did not. The battery runs out so quickly on uphill too. The tune up, oil filter and air filter were already replaced. It is still not improving. Now the cold weather is coming, and the cold weather eat up the gas too. It does not help at all.
I am so disappointed with this car. I do not think I want to purchase any future Prius vehicles. It is not an enjoyable car to drive. I will be looking to trade cars.
