My 2008 Prius was parked overnight on the street, and the catalytic converter was stolen. According to the dealer and news reports, the Prius is a common target for this, the expense to fix is quite high, and Toyota USA has done nothing to address the issue. It appear that Toyota UK also has this problem and has attempted to help address the issue.
I called Toyota USA to ask about the problem with catalytic converters being stolen from Toyota Prius cars and was told THAT THEY ARE UNAWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I'm considering selling my Prius and NEVER BUYING ANOTHER TOYOTA (I've owned multiple Toyotas over the past 35 years).
