I'll be damned, the lights keep going off and I've lost faith of these vehicles. I only drive it in the morning, not at night. I cannot trust this vehicle. I hope the Toyota dealers get this issue resolved.
How can I have peace of mind when this problem keeps happening while driving at night. I almost had another accident due to headlights going out... It's a very dangerous vehicle, not trustworthy. I would like this item recalled before someone gets killed. I have a Toyota 4Runner because I believed in Toyota doing the right thing.
Just echoing all the other complaints about the 2007 Prius HID lights. As it turns out, the power packs were mounted beneath the headlights and were subject to corrosion. Rather than spend hundreds at the dealer. I found out online how to swap them without too much trouble with aftermarket versions that are still working now in 2019.
I kept having the passenger side one drop out, I'd turn the lights off and on and it'd come back. This worked for while....and then they both went out on a very dark stretch of road! Time to get serious.
It's a recurring problem and potentially very dangerous. Sometimes the left light goes out, some times it's the right light. So far, not both at the same time.

For the last two years, I have been told regularly, hey do you know you have a headlight out. Have even been pulled over by the police for this. However, if I turn the lights on and off, it typically goes back on without any issue. The problem is intermittent and I rarely do know when it is happening. Might have something to do with the auto leveling, not sure. Seems on the border of dangerous. I am sure visibility is reduced when only one light is on. Actually, hit a dog crossing the street in the neighbor last year and it probably was related to the reduced visibility.
Driving with family on vacation to Universal Studios and light went on and off during the night drive. Got pulled over by CHiP and given a warning and asked not to continue travel till morning. This was very dangers and the car almost got hit due to headlights.
i just purchase this car at Carmax about a month ago and already having problems with the headlight. Took it back to Carmax and they said that there is nothing wrong, but the headlights goes off while driving. Last week it was the driver side now it's the passenger side. I don't know what to do about this matter. Toyota should recall the problem and fix it. Carmax kept making excuses and said that they ordered the part and never called back. Now my car is out of warranty.
Problem with headlights going off started several months ago, but now it's a daily occurrence and happens in the dark! Today it happened twice. Really surprised Toyota doesn't take care of this as it's definitely a safety issue and they've known about it early on. Death or injury is sure to occur.
I had this problem several months ago with the lights going off, flickering. I replaced the bulbs and i was good for about 5 months. Now the same problem is happeing again. It was already a very expensive fix. It is dangerous driving around and all the sudden both lights go out or one is out....I never know what to expect and don't know what to do to fix it.
I bought this 2007 Toyota Prius used and was not informed by the seller that there was a problem with the HID headlamps. While driving, the right headlamp will periodically flicker and/or cut out. I received one ticket regarding this problem. I discovered that turning off then on the headlights resets it to be on. After researching the problem online, I discovered that this is a known issue with Toyota and that there was a class action lawsuit. Replacing the bulbs for this model are very expensive and this problem should not be occurring. I would like to know how to get this problem resolved. It is very dangerous to be driving at night and have a headlight flicker off....
Driving at night last night, the low-beam lights would randomly go out. Flicking them off and on usually made them come back on, turning the brights on and off didn't seem to help. Very unnerving, and we got pulled over by a cop.
2007 Toyota Prius has had an intermittent problem where the passenger side headlight would go off. If I turned the lights off and back on the light came on. This has been an ongoing issue. I've been pulled over by police 2x because a headlight was off. When I turned the lights off and back on the officers haven't given me a ticket. I had my mechanic try to troubleshoot the problem but he couldn't find a problem. Now the driver side headlight is doing the same thing. This is definitely a safety hazard. I searched the internet to see if others have this problem and there's lots of complaints with this issue.
I thought there must be a recall on this by Toyota. My 2007 Prius is obviously not under warranty. I took it a Toyota dealer in Kansas City and they charged me $475 to replace 2 headlights!!! They said there isn't a recall.
6 months ago right headlight went out. Had both headlight bulbs replaced. Now both headlights only work on high beams. It's not the bulbs, what's going on. This is very dangerous! Need a solution for this situation.
The high intensity lights just went off, both suddenly while driving two nights ago. Last night, again both lights went out. It is scary and incredibly dangerous. I took to the local Toyota leadership yesterday and the lights appeared to be working. Lights may come on intermittently but then abruptly go off.
Purchased the vehicle for our teenager and she hasn't been able to drive it in the evening for fear of suddenly being behind the wheel of a car driving in the dark! Willing to pay for new HID bulbs...even though the dealer was charging over $600 to do so!...but this didn't fix the problem. Now, we have to go back and start from scratch trying to figure out exactly what needs to be done.
We understand from others that this is NOT an isolated incident. Toyota, how about standing behind your product?
Just bought a used Prius, very nice overall. Top of the line package. Immediately noted one of the "marker" lights wasn't working, bought a bulb, but lamp was working when I went to replace it. A few days later was told my headlight was out. When I arrived at the auto parts store to replace it, I noted it was working again. Since, I have noted it has been on and off very randomly, in my case always (so far) on the passenger side. It appears turning it off and back on again allows it to work (for a while????).
