The owner's manual says the gas tank holds 11.9 gallons. The most I have EVER put in, after running out of gas, was 8.4 gallons. Consistently I am able to only put in about 7 gallons, and that is accomplished only with much effort and bother. This is being written because it spewed gasoline on my hands and coat today!
The fuel system clearly has a problem and Toyota has never addressed or admitted it. I REALLY like my Prius but I will NOT buy another unless the problem is solved - and admitted to. Instead of having a range of 500 miles I have a range of about 300 miles.
