The rear hatch door handle pad dissolved, I covered it with electrical tape but it continued to be unreliable to open. One day I yanked it so hard I broke the plastic panel and now I have to replace the whole panel. I am not a violent person. I am a 5'2" woman who expects engineering and industrial designers to do their jobs!! Lucky I am handy with tools because Toyota wanted $$$$ to fix this simple handle problem.

The handle to open the rear hatchback is melting and difficult to open. I have to use a towel to open it so that my hand doesn't get black melted rubber on it. Then any times it won't open at all. Sometimes, if I press the switch on the passenger door to open the hatchback, it will work. It's a real pain. Any suggestions?

This seems to be general problem and yet when I just called the dealer they acted as if they'd never heard of it.
