I HAVE TALKED WITH THE Toyota HQ ABOUT THIS SEVERAL TIMES AND MOSTLY GOT THE RUNAROUND BUT WHEN THET FINALLY REALIZED I WAS NOT GOING AWAY THEY GOT BACK TO ME WITH AN UNACCEPTABLE SOLUTION MAINLY DUE TO THE COST TO ME TO FIX AN INADEQUATE/UNSAFE DEFECT IN THEIR DESIGN. YOU LITERALLY CANNOT USE THE BACK HATCH DOOR IN THE WINTER <40* WHICH IS EXTREEMLY CRITICAL TO ME SINCE I SPEND HALF OF THE WINTER ABOVE 7000' WHERE IT IS USUALLY BELOW FREEZING. AT THE MOMENT I AM IN SOUTHERN CA AND LOOKING AT THE TAR ON MY FINGERS WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OFF WITH HOT SOAPY WATER, IT HAS TO WEAR OFF OVER SEVERAL DAYS, THIS IS EFFECTING MY DECISION TO BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA PRODUCT. THE DEALER OFFERED NO INEXPENSIVE SOLUTION EXCEPT TO SCRAPE OFF THE TAR AND USE DUCT-TAPE TO COVER THE LATCH
