Back trunk handle got sticky like it melted. It was very hard to open the trunk. Got hands full of black sticky stuff. Trunk was very hard to open. One day while trying to open the hatch, the whole trunk handle part came off. Now I was no longer able to lock my car. Took it to the dealer. What a rip off, they charged me $665 to get a new one and put it on. I think this should be a recall and should of been free. It is only a plastic part. Anyone have any luck getting Toyota to pay? If so, how? Thanks

Telling me it will cost over $350. to replace a 24 ince piece of plastic that opens the hatchback on my Prius, and, is held in place by plastic "grips" (I call them) is obscene. Even the service rep was embarrassed to tell me. Someone, in the service area, recommended I glue the piece back on, which I did for $4.95. It still holds today. Needless to say, when it comes time to buy a new car I will think long and hard about buying a Toyota.
