THE NEW KEY caused an alarm in the computer system that make it believe that the key was a fake and that the car was being stolen. I had been using the new key for three days, and no problem, but in the middle of the highway at night in pouring rain, it shut off my acceleration, my brakes, and soon after my lights - in the middle of traffic.
The tow truck couldn't even jump it to get it into neutral, and I couldn't even lock the car - NOTHING WORKED!! IT WAS TERRIFYING, and it is a huge flaw in the Prius, and any other Toyotas that have this ANTI-THEFT feature in it. I would love to know if anyone else has had this problem, because I cannot believe this is the first time this has happened to someone.
