It began with a weird humm, dealer discounted it, progressed to whirl/humm loss of braking, dealer said, bring it back in when it fails, knocking to the point of unendurable, brought it in - was told I missed the 2017 recall letter which was sent to my address in another state. No help. They would have replaced the whole assembly, but my mechanic lost access to his service records. Another reason to keep up with trips to the dealer to check for recalls and document fails. I HATE TOYOTA. Their customer service at corporate was rude dodged responsibility for a part they know was a failure from the start. Limited their recall to specific years and miles, documented in service records. The thing is broken. To boot the part is now $1,750 ( up from the $500's ) and service is $2,200 - I usually try to drive my cars as long as possible. Prius was going strong except for this part ! TOYOTA LOST A CUSTOMER !! I will NOT upgrade to any TOYOTA due to their rudeness and denying of responsibility for their terrible engineering of this part. I don't know if they have improved the part - just pushing the same old that leaks indeterminately in time. BIG FAIILURE ! Big Customer Service Failure. Only notice was one letter in 2017.
