When closing the rear hatch one day, my inside rear view mirror came crashing down, taking a good chunk of the windshield with it.
I went to the local Toyota dealer, who contacted Toyota's regional service department, and they said they wouldn't cover it as the car is off warranty (74K miles).
So, I contacted the national customer service line, who gave me the same runaround. I fully understand the purpose of the warranty, and I understand the car is past warranty, but to me this is a serious materials defect that just shouldn't happen. And Toyota was adamant that they won't touch a car with too many miles on it, despite my claims that the mileage has nothing to do with this. I've written letters to the head of customer retention and the chairman of Toyota USA to no avail.
This seems like a manufacturing/materials problem that shouldn't happen, yet did. If Toyota really cared about the quality of their manufacturing, they would work with me on this one.
