When I purchased the Mirai, I was very interested in environmentally friendly cars and the development of alternative energy, especially due to the rising gasoline prices. Toyota and the government provided a lot of support. However, due to a mistake by the dealer, I didn't receive the rebate. I later requested it from the government, but they said I was not eligible as the registration should have been done within 3 months of the purchase. Also, when filing taxes, I couldn't benefit from the $8,000 tax incentive because there was no registration for the hydrogen car. When I bought the Mirai in 2021, hydrogen prices were around $13 per kg, very affordable. Now, in 2024, it's around $37 per kg, costing around $160 for a single refill. While the Mirai provides a $12,000 hydrogen support, it's still too much money to sustain its operation. Additionally, when I try to sell the car, its price is set at $11,000, significantly less than the $24,000 I still owe in loans. Ultimately, due to Toyota's misguided policies and promotions, I find myself in significant debt. It's truly frustrating.
