In August of 2008 my wife was on her way to work (With the dog) when after hitting a small pot hole the air bags suddenly deployed. The tire was found to be flat and the rim had a small crack in it. People hit pot holes everyday so it was a real mystery in how this could have happened. This is a VERY serious situation and if it where to happen on a busy street or on the highway, it could have been fatal. As the picture show, there is absolutely no body damage to the car and the only damage was a flat tire and a cracked rim.
After months of communicating with Toyota Canada their final decision was that the amount of damage to the vehicle warranted the air bags going off. this was absolutely ludicrous and in the end the car is still in the driveway. I have no problem with Toyota not compensating for the damage but I was at least hoping they would warn other 2004 Matrix owners of this dangerous situation. So, I will put it on carcomplaints.com in the hopes other Matrix owners do not suffer the same fate we did.
Thank you!
