Both models were a joint GM-Toyota venture, manufactured together at a NUMMI production facility in Fremont, CA. Only the heating & A/C systems are different.
I have a 2003 Toyota Matrix first owner, we performed all schedule maintenance on time using all specified fluids and OEM replacement parts. at 130K miles the check engine light came on with the code P0420, Catalytic converter system fault. I make some search and the parts only the price is around $1,400.00. in my life I have had over 20 vehicles never had to replace the catalytic converter, I always trusted Toyota but I am very disappointed this time.
i have a Toyota matrix for six months i go to get it inspected and it will not pass i am told it will cost me 1100 to fix the car i am a single income person who cannot afford sh*t and now i have to pay 360 a month for a car i cannot drive i have been told buy a mechanic the cat converter should be good for more miles than what i drove the car what can i do now? two dealerships rejected me for inspection and both cannot understand why. i bought the car in Saratoga and the check engine light was on so they said they would have to change the oil north country will not do anything to help me now.catalytic converter
