Throttle accelerates on its own when cold. This especially happens when vehicle has not fully warmed up in weather below freezing. I will let off the throttle and vehicle will continue to accelerate for several seconds before seemingly getting unstuck. There is no issue with throttle cable, and throttle body has been cleaned since the onset, which changed nothing.

Car accelerated to about 25 mph and struck a telephone pole. Drivers fault. The indent from the damage of hitting a pole that did not move was 12 to 18 inches directly in the middle of the bumper. No air bags deplolyed.

1999 Toyota landcruiser had unintended acceleration. Took it to dealer 5 years ago, they did not believe it. But eventually fixed it at my cost. Should that model also be recalled? my wife was driving it and could not stop. We still have the car and have not had problems once it was repaired at beechmont Toyota, cin.,Ohio.

Land Cruiser 8-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles
While waiting at a stop sign, the vehicle started to accelerate. The unexpected occurrence of acceleration caused the consumer to lose control of vehicle and rear ended the vehicle in front. After checking vehicles, the consumer returned to the vehicle and noticed the cruise control light was on when it was never engaged. The manufacturer and the dealer were aware of the problem. There was a snow condition at the time of the incident and the vehicle was unable to stop as it slid and the antilock brakes pulsated due to the sliding action.
