The brakes had been supposedly checked in my every 2,000 mile go over.
Garage kept. Serviced well and often. Driven slowly. It's got 144,300 miles. The brakes failed on a straight, flat, dry stretch of road.
Would not slow down until I stood on pedal, but too late. I demolished back of car in front of me. My Highlander Hybrid Ltd AWD is totaled.
Really not in a financial position to replace with used, which I always buy. Now I'm just scared of ALL vehicles now that Toyota has failed me. That could have killed or maimed... it's a large heavy vehicle and I am HORRIFIED Toyota has not addressed this. BTW, my VIN # starts with J...so it was made in Japan.
Shame on Toyota!
