I have owned and rented quite a few cars in my day and I don't normally have this issue but my 2020 Highlander front seats are very hard and after about 1.5 hours are unbearable. Didn't notice it during the test drive as it was too short to notice but they are unbearable after sitting awhile. Last time I took an 8 hour drive I was noticeably sore for 2 days afterwards. I have tried every adjustment possible and nothing helps. I am a larger guy but I don't normally have this issue, I am also someone who doesn't normally get aches and pains but these seats are torture on long drives.

From what I can tell it's a seat design issue. The outer rim of the seat is hard and unforgiving, if you have some width to your body it will get to you. Someone more narrow may avoid the hard edge and not have the issue. Honestly a hard flat rock would be better to sit on as it would not have pressure points on that outer rim. Seriously considering getting rid of what is otherwise a great vehicle.
