Purchased a 2019 Toyota Highlander with 130 miles. A week into the purchase I began noticing substantial wind noise from both the drivers side and passenger side doors. Upon research, I discovered this was not isolated to my vehicle and the symptom tends to be the design in which they used a chrome trim to line the windows. This chrome has gaps near the side mirrors (above & below) in which wind tends to get in and causes the wind and whistling noise. This is evident at 45 mph and tends to become louder the faster you drive.
I took the vehicle to our local dealer and was told they didn't hear anything but they would assign a technician to ride along with me in my car then drive another similar 2019 Highlander XLE to compare. The technician noticed the noise in both vehicles and mentioned it could be the chrome trim.
No offer to fix it. No resolution. Just deal with it. $40,000 car sounds like the windows are cracked and rides louder than most $20,000 vehicles I've test driven for my daughter.
