Highlander Platinum 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,000 miles

Almost exactly at 5,000 miles the dashboard started buzzing and rattling. Can be heard over the radio. Tapping just below the drivers knee airbag brings out the rattle/buzz. Prior to this Toyota had to replace a navigational module for voice recognition that required pulling the entire center console.

This is extremely annoying to me especially since I spent $45,000 dollars on this vehicle that is my retirement car.

I guess I will have to bring it in again for the rattle, fuel pump recall and screwed up navi system. Also the navi system on this vehicle is useless... Google maps is 100% better. Navi still does not work.

Highlander XLE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130 miles

Purchased a 2019 Highlander XLE with 130 miles. I noticed a dash defect in which the leather wasn't flush and was popping up. I took our vehicle into our local dealer and they informed us they would have to replace the dash to fix it and it's not covered under warranty; therefore, our out of pocket would be $2,000+.

The dealership told me this was isolated and that this was not evident when they rolled the vehicle off their truck. I test drove another 2019 Highlander on their lot to rule out another defect and discovered this new 2019 Highlander had the exact same dash defect at the same location.

The Toyota technician noticed the dash as well and felt the leather may not be pulled enough or was cut too short leading to it popping up.
