We purchased a New Highlander Limited in November of 2015. We had looked at the vehicle 6 months earlier but held off for a better deal. In late January, my wife who is the principal driver, noticed the back of the grey leather drivers seat was getting a stained look on the leather. We purchased a product recommended tp us by one of her associates at work. this ladies husband has used it on their 8 year old Jeep Grand Cherokee, which seats look like new. He has used a product called Lexol for years and really likes it.
Used the Lexol cleaner and conditioner, but it did not change the seat. Time went by and we decided we need to take the car by the Toyota dealer and talk to our Service rep. Unfortunately he was off that day, we waited for the other Service Mgr. to speak to him.
After waiting awhile, talked to other people in the service area. When this lady started looking at the seat, the Service Mgr. associate came over and looked at the seat also. They discussed the staining and he recommended she talk to the Head service manager. When she came back out, she was going to check with the detailing crew and see if they could work our vehicle in, but that this is a problem they are seeing with the Leather seats in the service area--??? They do not tell you that at the Sales area when you discuss cloth versus Leather! Or when you discuss the color of your interior.--??? Maybe a darker color is the way To go??
While waiting for the detailing department to work on this, I called my Sales associate and asked him to come to the service area to look at this problem. He came back, and as we discussed this, his boss came by and looked at the stain on the seat also.
Then they took the vehicle back to detail the seat. Brought the car back after trying to remove the stained area, with out any success.
So now I am looking online to see if anyone else has had the same problem. Out previous car was a 99 Lexus RX300, which was a certified pre-owned vehicle. Seems like those seats had a better finish on them.???? I'm wondering if possibly a step was missed in prepping the leather on the drivers seat, as none of the other seats in the vehicle are having this problem. Any help or suggestions from any other Highlander owners will be appreciated. Next step is to Contact Toyota direct and see if they will stand behind their product.
