I took the car to South Bay Toyota and showed it the service writer. The material at the driver's side door handle is getting wrinkled. It's really annoying to look at it. He said because it's wear and tear. How can it be wear and tear. I bought it brand new top of the line in 2014. It has under 25k miles on it. I took really good care of the car. This is a defective material from Toyota. The car is still under warranty. The dealer gave us the Toyota Head Quarter to call. I've been a Toyota owner all my life. This is my 6 Toyotas. I now have 2009 Corolla, 2004 4runner and 2007 Lexus ES350. They are over 100k but never had this problem. Toyota should fix this problem. I'm very disappointed at Toyota. I'm planning to buy a Lexus RX350 next year. But I think I should look at Mercedez or Accura instead of Toyota.

Highlander XLE 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 22,000 miles

Ok, first off, the Toyota Highlander is the best all around vehicle I have ever owned, but this issue sticks in my craw !! The thin padded vinyl on the interior door handle (both Left & Right) front doors after constant use has wrinkled and looks terrible. The vinyl is so thin that I fear it will eventually crack or tear. I have aprox.3 months left on my factory new car warranty 3 yrs./36,000 miles bumper to bumper and am very tempted to have them change out the door panel. For all the quality in this vehicle, you would think they would have used a plastic door handle or similar that would hold up to use. it's the "door handle" and it does get USED.
