The Retractable Cargo Cover made for the 2011 Highlander Hybrid base model does not fit properly. The unit fits correctly in the vertical place holders behind the 2nd seat. However, when the cover is retracted (pulled) to the rear of the cargo area, is only able to be connected on one side. The right side fits in the rear molding cut out, but the left side is approx 3 inches too short to reach the left side rear molding cut out. I ordered two Retractable Cargo Covers from different sources - verifying the correct part #s for the 2011 Hi-Hy - and both covers were approx 3 inches short. This appears to be a manufacturing/specs defect.
I contacted Toyota Motor and they offered no solutions or ideas, just that they would record it for future reference. Two dealerships have no solutions - they are mystified as well. With the price paid for the vehicle (and I love this SUV!) - how is it that there is no way to prevent the visibility of personal items in the cargo area?
Has anyone encountered this problem with the retractable cargo cover on the 2011 Highlander Hybrid base model? I can't believe I am the only person to have run into this situation! HELP!
