CarComplaints.com Notes: 2008 is the first year of the 2nd generation Highlander, & it may be a model year to avoid as Toyota most likely worked out some production quality issues with the new model.
The 2009 Highlander is the has far fewer complaints.
Just finished paying the 2008 highlander hybrid less than a year ago and now the dealer is charging $7578.94 to replace the brake actuator assembly $3235.75 plus 2.5 hours total 3523.25, also need to replace the brake booster pump assembly $1743.46, and it is leaking engine oil which requires the rear main seal cost $50.30 plus 15.8 hours of work. was provided a quote of 7,578.94. Found out from other complaints that older models have a recall for the brake actuator.
