There is a serious problem with the 2005 toyota highlander transmission, It acts like it does not know what gear it wants to be in. Slowing down to almost a stop and re accelerating there is a huge hesitation, the rpms rev up and the car does not want to respond until a few seconds later. This is dangerous when passing through intersections and merging onto the highway. I have had the transmission replaced and the computer reprogrammed with the latest software and there is still a problem. DO NOT buy this year Highlander, There is a huge safety problem when you cannot get your car out of another cars way. Very dangerous. Toyota should have been sued for this. The fluid level is fine, it has a brand new transmission and the computer has been set correctly for a new trans and still has a problem. Even up in higher gears something is not right.
