I have a 2005 Toyota Highlander, it has 205,000 KMS on it. Noticed it was swaying on the road, stopped in at a local auto shop when they put it up on the hoist they said, "Jesus, this car is unsafe to drive, the whole rear sub-frame is rusted, we can't believe how this is rusted, it never should have gone this bad". The Toyota dealer was only about 5 kms away and they wouldn't let me drive it there, I had to tow it.
The dealer said we will take pictures and send them to Toyota Canada and see what they say, even they agreed the rig is in great shape sitting in the parking lot until you put it up on the hoist, then it is nothing but rust!!
All Toyota Canada had to say is it had no warranty left on it and there was no recalls!! Well thank you very much. I know there is no warranty left but the thing just rusted to pieces, now I am left with nothing or the cost to fix it out of my own pocket. There has been many frame rust problems with Toyota but they seem unwilling to help with my problem!
