Alright, the Highlander has 143K miles, but everything works, and it is in excellent shape. I have absolutely maintained it since new. Tranny began slipping after prolonged stop-and-go driving in rush hour traffic. Check fluid, trouble lights. All good. Once the car cooled down, tranny worked fine until it warmed up again. I was looking forward to 250K miles with this, but after checking lots of "complaints" site, I am less enthralled by Toyotas than I used to be. I am told bill for repair will be $3500 (rebuild) to $6500 (new transmission). I will probably junk the car and look elsewhere for its replacement.
