My husband is a service tech for a major dealership and can connect to the toyota helpline but this problem is CRAZYnd the fix is unreliable! He fixed the control knob 6 months ago only for it to go out again. Only this time when the ac/heat fan went on the fritz we couldn't get heat for defrosting the windows. The last time we had to repair the same knob it was the same as others have complained on other sites that the ac would blow hot and if you turn the knob the heat would function as the ac then if you hit a bump in the road the function would reverse. This is definitely a problem that Toyota should recall as the problem becomes one of safety when you cannot defrost the windshield.
