FJ Cruiser 4.0L

toyota is using soft paint on the FJ Cruisers, this was told to me by the dealar. the body shop guy told me he thought toyota should make good on a repaint of my truck .toyota rep told me the paint chiping off is not there problem and that it was all mine to deal with. nice so i paid 30,000 for my fj and now i get to pay to repaint before it is even 4 years old lucky me. so if i dont repaint my fj it will soon turn in to a big ball of rust were the paint has chiped off it is down to the metal and all ready starting to rust.this truck sits most of the time inside of my garge. my wife is the main driver she is disabled and only gos out when she needs to. i can not beleave toyota will not make good on this problem I WILL NEVER BUY A TOYOTA AGAIN they are no better then the big three.

I have a black cherry FJ Cruiser with paint chipping off in various places, especially along the door edges and around the windshield. There are also chips on the hood, rear sides, and back door. When I took the vehicle in to Victory Toyota of Canton, they told me it was stone chips due to the design of the vehicle. When I asked about the chips on the edge of the door, which certainly weren't stone chips, they responded...ready for this?... That it was from my bracelets, or my coat zipper rubbing against the door!!!! Can you imagine? I was/am appalled. They handed me a bottle of touch up paint which I handed back to them and insisted they apply. This, of course, looked like a cheap nail polish cover-up and is already chipped off in most places. What a joke.

Called Toyota dealers, went above their heads and called and it took 4 months for them to finally meet with a rep. and him tell us that its the debris from the road and its not their problem and not under warranty. We've made 3 trips to New Mexico that accounts for the mileage, HIGHWAY MILES. The chipping is very visible and some as deep as the metal. Feel it has to be the design of the vehicle that causes the problem and they have no solutions and didn't give us any suggestions. I love the vehicle but can't see keeping it if it continues to chip it will rust and look like sh*t in no time. They did offer to take it as a trade in, yeah right and how much do we loose. It sucks and would like to know that Toyota really "stands behind their vehicles."
