Toyota Etios : Disappointment - People who have bought Toyota Etios are firstly suffering from the poor quality of the vehicle including high noise and vibration from the engine inside the passenger cabin, absence of weather gaskets from all four doors and secondly Toyota is not responding to the customer complaints ignoring the customer pain and running away from their responsibility that Toyoda family has towards the society to offer good products.
The customers who are already in pain because of defects in Toyota are mocked by the Toyota team by not responding to the problems being faced by Etios.
I will again say that Etios is an incomplete vehicle like a baby born prematurely. It is having a moderate engine with decent dynamics but cost cutting in other other areas especially related to comfort has resulted in half cooked product called - Toyota Etios.
As far as categorized as an economical product. I feel that as compared to other Toyota its is economical. But compared with its peersit is not an economy product and by no stretch of imagination can be described as value for money product.

As for being categorized as an economical product: I feel that as compared to other Toyota it is economical . But compared with its peers it is not a economy product and by no stretch of imagination can be described as value for money product.
Once euphoria over Toyota badge goes, then Toyota will have to pull up its socks and improve Etios in many areas.
The reduction in the quality of dampers and insulating material has made possible all the oscillations from the engine to get inside the passenger cabin and create nuisance for the driver.
Strangely but true Toyota people try to escape the flaws in Etios by merely giving the excuse that it is priced less and that is why the problems are there. This is really insulting for the customer who has spent all his hard earned money for the Toyota brand.
Please understand that I have however spent 7.5 Lakh on procuring this vehicle and this is no way lower price that I have paid for buying Etios.If Toyota is facing any quality issues with the Etios they should admit it as they have done it gracefully in other parts of the world.
I own Toyota Etios and there is no comfort. I still prefer to drive my 11 years old WagonR. My new Toyota Etios Sedan vibrates as if a tractor engine is fitted inside it. Remember it is a Petrol Engine.
The worst part is that Toyota company engineers are not acknowledging the problems which are visible with naked eye to them. Toyota Engineers could not diagnose the problem. Unless the problem in my etios is diagnosed, it can not be rectified.
We always prefer petrol over diesel fuel run vehicles because we do not mind spending more money on fuel and we do not like Engine Noise and Vibration.But in Toyota Etios Sedan you pay more for Petrol fuel and face the Engine Noise and Vibrations.
The vehicle lacks proper insulation and dampers used in the engine compartment which can reduce the engine noise inside the passenger cabin. The Etios design fails in this field as lot of noise is heard from engine and the tyres and road, inside the passenger cabin which causes irritation. After driving for few kilometers the vibrations get more intense and are felt through steering, dashboard, side arm rest and seats as they vibrate and make the journey tiring and boring for driver and passengers as well. This Vibration effect increase as the AC is switched “OFFâ€. You can live with it in Summers but what will happen in Winters?.
The other drawbacks include the absence of Weather gaskets in all the four doors. The absence of the gaskets make it convenient for dust, insects, lizards, cockroaches to get inside the Toyota Etios Sedan.
Moreover the inside gaskets stick to the door in a manner that if you open the door after the gap of even 2 days, the door becomes very hard to open as the rubber gasket stick on the open-able door surface.and also the Quality of the paint is very poor, which just gets away as soon as it come in contact with any surface. The average is also close to half as claimed by Toyota.
I am surprised that after researching for 5 years in India and designing a vehicle as per the Indian standard conditions the Toyota Etios Sedan fails to impress in terms of the price being paid.
I trusted Toyota and booked the vehicle even before physically seeing the vehicle, also finalized the color of the etios without seeing the actual color.This shows the faith that I have in Toyota products, but the irresponsible response of the engineers who inspected my vehicle has made me lose faith in Toyota customer support.
Toyota Etios Sedan does not deserve to be even categorised a “SEDAN†as it does not provide basic comfort. It is by the virtue of the design that it is called “SEDANâ€
Toyota Etios Sedan occupies more space on Road, but not in owner’s heart.
This is in regard to the Toyota Etios that I purchased on 24.02.2011 from M/s. Galaxy Automobiles, Shalimar Place, Outer Ring Road, New Delhi.
I have driven the vehicle for more than 30 days and for more than 1200km. I am unhappy with the product quality and I have the following observations to be shared with your technical team.
1) Engine Vibration at Idle/ Neutral position.
When the vehicle ignition is switched “ON†the vehicle shakes heavily and produces noise. Secondly when the vehicle is "START†and the gear is Neutral/ idling condition – vehicle produces lot of vibration. This vibration is irritating and distracts attention for every moment spent in the Etios.
2) Road Noise inside the cabin. When the vehicle is moving on the road, great amount of sound from the tyre reaches the cabin of the car, which is very irritating while driving. This noise is heard even with window glass closed and AC switched ON.
3) Engine Noise inside the cabin. The vehicle produces a lot of noise while accelerating. It sounds as if lot of lot has been put o the engine even with light load in the car (with 2 passengers inside the cabin). This noise is very distracting while driving.
4) Jerks while driving. Less weight of the car makes it bouncy on road. The suspension is poor and the impact of the holes on road comes directly to the passsenges inside the car cabin. The ride is rough. The comfort part is missing from the vehicle.
5) Missing EPDM Gasket from the Doors. The missing EPDM gaskets from the door create a lot of space for the spider,insects, lizards and etc to enter inside the cavities of the door and they fall inside the passenger cabin as soon as the door is opened. The cavities also accumulate dust and you are shocked to see the state of vehicle on opening the door.
There are other important features missing from Toyota Etios-
Absence of second bulb on left side of reverse light.
Driver seat height adjustment.
Poor quality of interior plastic.
Absence of speakers on rear.
Poor quality door handles
Poor quality light doors.
I have great respect for Toyota as a brand for the Quality and reliability of their Engineering and product quality. But sorry to say that I took so much time to write to you because I was myself not convinced that Toyota could make such a disaster. I hope you will understand the faith that we Indians have shown to Toyota that the vehicle was booked by myself even before physically seeing the Toyota Etios and the color of the Toyota Etios was confirmed for delivery even before seeing the visual car/color. This shows the trust and confidence that I have towards Toyota products and Engineering.
During the launching of Toyota Etios, respected Mr.Akio Toyoda grandson of Mr.Sakichi Toyoda a legend and technical personality showed great confidence in Etios and shown promising products for India. But I regret to say that Toyota Etios is a disaster and a technically degraded car from Toyota family.
I would congratulate Yoshinori Noritake for his efforts to visit India for 5 years and doing a lot of research before concluding the design of the Etios incorporating all the features that an Indian family was looking in their family car including the leg room, boot space, pricing, ac vents, etc.
But it is quite evident from the engine behavior that the vehicle engine is not a refined engine and is making all sorts of rattling noises and vibrations.
I would request you to look into the matter as I have not bought a vehicle from Toyota but I have made a relationship with Toyota family. This relationship is hurting right now, which I hope with your efforts will be made into a soothing relationship.
And in case if you are not able to sole my issues, I would request you to take Etios back to your Toyota company. I feel I am cheated and Toyota has misused me by selling their inferior vehicle to me so that they can improve their vehicle at the cost of my sentiments and hard earned money. Every time I drive the Etios vehicle it is hurting more and more.
The technical persons visited my house on 14.04.2011 and acknowledged the intense vibrations and even made video recordings of the water bottle in Etios and my Maruti Suzuki Wagon R. In Toyota Etios the water and the bottle itself vibrates intensely at idle condition and in Wagon R there was no single vibration in water or the bottle.I am sorry to point out that no action has been taken in the matter after their visit.
In Etios, the seats, steering, doors, arm rest vibrate and this is very annoying and unacceptable. This is only one of the few problems.
It is very shameful for Toyota to make such a technically degraded Etios and then the non technical personnel at your dealerships making all kinds of justifications for Toyota poor effforts, which even worsens our woes.
Etios should have been sold without the prestigious brand name "TOYOTA". I am an Engineer myself and have lot of respect for the "Toyota" brand and family but I confess that I am ashamed of buying Etios.
I am constrained to write to you that after spending a huge amount on the purchase of Etios, I have purchased headache which gives me trouble when I drive the Etios. The quality of the product is poor which is beyond description and the mental agony which experience is beyond expression. It is beyond human consideration that you spend your money for your comfort but in return you get troubles.
Now I feel so uncomfortable inside the Toyota Etios vehicle that I do not like to drive it anymore and only keep it parked in the garage. I would suggest that Toyota should take back my vehicle and take some suggestions from people like me and again launch this product in India.
