I was very disappointed when the transmission began making constant noise, if I gave anyone a ride they instantly asked "What's wrong with your car?". The noise happened when moving and stopped so I had it looked at. What was found was that some bearing related to the input shaft was bad however nobody was able or willing to attempt to rebuild this transmission. I was fortunate that my mechanic had some sort of vendor account with the toyota dealer and was able to get an entire new transmission for a touch over $3,000. The only rebuilder that would talk with me about a rebuild said it would be $2,000 minimum plus parts. Of course I had to pay the shop to take that car all apart and reassemble it so I was not excited about the need for this work. This is not the reason I purchased a toyota! My prior car still had a good manual trans with 330,000 miles and was a less reputable brand.
