After the first issues with start stop car would just shut off in the middle of driving, came a new issues In august 2024 When all these lights came on car had been park over night and not driven so it was a fresh start. Warning lights included parking brake system, Drive start control, check engine, vehicle stability control and secondary collision brake system. Corolla cross would not back nor move this time. Took to dealership with no findings or solutions. Again September 2024 same warning lights and car had just been driven 8 miles and was in park. These warning lights are very much a safety concern. Have taken to dealership with no resolution or findings
I have contacted the Toyota company several times over the internal multimedia system in the vehicle I purchased in October 2023. This system requires that I download a poorly developed application on my phone from Toyota in order to fully interact with the system. I will not put any app on my personal phone that is a potential security risk and is one of the poorest rated apps on the app store where it resides. Because I won't add this awful Toyota tracking device on my phone, I am required to interact with this panel to distraction while driving, which is causing safety issues. I would like to know how it is legal for a corporation like this to require that someone download an app with security risks on their phone, in order to use an interior car function, which can cause major safety issues because it is so distracting while driving.
January 6, 2024 - 14,000 miles 6 Health alerts popped up on Toyota App/Dashboard on car, which are -??Parking Brake System, Drive Start Control System, Check Engine, AWD System, and Vehicle Stability Control System-?? all malfunctions. Took to dealership to check out. Stated it could be -??fuel quality Low-??. On January 13, 2024 - again same problem- started the car in the morning all 6 lights appeared on dashboard.
I bought my car yesterday. Was driving tonight when it was raining with my wipers on. I stopped at a stoplight and the engine stopped, the check engine light came on, a loud and long beep sounded, and messages came up on the screen saying steering power low, press brake firmly to restart. I tried multiple times to press the brake for restarting but it didn't work. I had to put on my flashers for cars to go around me because I couldn't get the car to go. I finally put it in park and had to turn it completely off and on I believe twice before I finally got it started and could drive home.

I bought this vehicle 3 months prior to your letter that reached me mid July 2023 about a safety recall due to it being a safety issue and telling me to NOT let anyone sit in the passenger seat due to major safety concerns with the airbag. Being a couple of months old 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross and that it had taken me 3 years to find a vehicle to purchase (with Covid and no cars on any lots) I complied and put the vehicle in my garage awaiting more info to come. This left me carless but at least I was safe. In a bit the dealer called and said they had the necessary parts to replace. They did supposedly fix 1 although dealing with Takata I have no 100% assurance the parts or fixing was done correctly. Then shortly another letter came saying the driver's side also was affected and TO NOT DRIVE IT FOR SAFETY REASONS AGAIN!!I had to have surgery at Mayo Clinic and had to keep my appts and trips back and forth at my expense!! I had to rent a car for 4 days for this trip. The dealer also confirmed the problems with the car. I also know of the same problems in 2015 and much the same scene with Takata and faulty parts and a billion penalty they acquired. When filling this out it was stated under my VIN no."unrepaired recall info was not found for this VIN. Why am I getting letters from the manufacturer and they state the driver's side is unsafe and defects in the airbag(s) inflators have risks of deaths and injuries when deployed.Deployed chemicals used to inflate the airbag use an ammonium nitrate based propellent without a drying agent in their metal cartridge."PLEASE ADVISE NOW AS THIS DRIVER SIDE HAS NEVER BEEN FIXED." The dealer is the only place that inspected the one side-passenger-as no fix or parts-exist for driver's side now AND I AM MOST UNHAPPY THAT IT IS NOT STATED ON MY ACCOUNT THAT IT NEEDS MORE WORK AND TO NOT DRIVE IT.I do not recall any light or messages showing but then again I have only driven my BRAND NEW SUV a few times and then it has been garaged.
Purchase car 8/28 ( brand new 8 miles in it) drove it 1 time 9/1. On 9/3 the car would not start. Giving message key not detected although key was in dash. Then it said push break portal and touch engine switch with key. Still did not start. Today 9/4 same thing. Dealership Manager and technician came to my home (outstanding service ). I discovered it was not turn battery that the key was not being recognized. They said they have not had the problem with their cars but have heard about it worth this car from other dealerships. There is No fox as of yet.
The car has suddenly turn off while driving, all lights come one and does take a while to be able.to turn back on. It had happened 4 times already. Twice today while my daughter was driving on a busy street, nearly missing getting it by someone else. And the second time in the middle of an intersection today was a rainy day, and she had the automatic on/off button off. Twice before, on 2 separate days one was sunny, the day was sprinkling.
When at a red light the steering wheel froze and the stop/ start did not work. It stated to depress the brake hard but everything was frozen. It was raining and the wipers were on when this occurred. Finally started after putting it in park and restarting the car. Had many angry cars behind me. Very unsettling.
When driving during the day on a sunny day, the cluster panel is completely unviewable because of the sun glare on steering wheel hitting cluster panel screen. This happens every time I drive. It isn-??t a one time thing.
Purchased a Toyota Corolla Cross 2023 on April 14th. Was very excited until I began noticing when the -??Automated Start Stop-?? system began to engage at times, when I had the system supposedly off. I took it to the dealership where they tried to reenact the problem and nothing happened, they assumed it was user error. On April 21st I had driven the car for approximately 40 minutes and it was raining very hard. I had the windshield wipers running, the radio was on and when I came to the stop sign, I engaged the break (the Automated Start Stop system was on) the car totally shut down with all its bells and whistles flashing telling me the engine was off, it needed fluid, etc. I was in quite a panic mode due to the weather conditions, and worried that someone was going to hit me from behind. After composing myself, I put the car in park and restarted the car. When I was safe to pull over I disengaged the Automatic Start Stop system. I was able to make it home. On April 22nd I took the car out to try to reenact the situation and after driving a short time, the car once again, shut down. This is very very dangerous. I now have disengaged the Automatic Start System in hopes that it will not shut down until I can return this lemon to the dealership.
I was at a stop light with the car in drive and the wipers on intermittent. The auto on/off feature was also enabled since the car was stopped. There was a failure related to the auto on off that seems to correlate with the windshield wipers being used. The engine shut off and the error message appeared on the screen "engine stopped steering power low". The check engine and power steering lights came on. I couldn't move the car until I put it in park, shut the car off, and turned the car back on.
The vehicle turned off on me while driving. It has happened many times I have taken the car to the dealer numerous times and they aren-??t able to duplicate a problem. It-??s turned off while on drive at a red lights numerous times, but this time On March 10,2023 it turned off while driving and it was raining. I have pictures and video of the numerous incidents. The dealers keep telling they can-??t find anything wrong with the car. It Doesn-??t feel safe driving the vehicle if they can-??t figure what-??s going on with the vehicle. The dealer is claiming they fixed the issue, but we-??re never able to duplicate the issue.
Stalled out twice at red lights causing other drivers to drive around of immobile vehicle, all cluster lights came on, power steering would not work (steering wheel got difficult to turn), vehicle promoted to press pedal to restart. Weather condition : rainy, wiper mode intermittent, auto start : on. Miles on vehicle 390 miles, This is a known issue with the Corolla cross according to Reddit posts. Possible issues : auto start stop malfunction, faulty wiper motor causing complete engine stall.
When the vehicle comes to a stop, sometimes the engine will shut off and the check engine light comes on. It appears to occur when it is raining and the windshield wipers are on. We brought the vehicle to a Toyota service center but they were not able to help. This creates a safety problem if the vehicle dies on the road.
I drove my vehicle normally and it shut off while driving in the city streets a message came up low steering power and it said firmly press brake to restart it never restarted until I put into park and tried again very terrifying experience as other cars were going fast all while the car was giving a loud beep car has less than 300 miles just bought new from dealer
I was driving during the snow storm, my front sensor stopped working because it was covered in snow. That warning popped up on my dash screen and the warning light was on, after about half hour, the front collision warning light also turned on. I had not been able to stop to clean the sensor. I stopped about an hour after the original warning light came on, my start/ stop battery charge came on the dash, and then I got a dash warning that said "steering power low" and "engine stopped" and then "press brake peddle firmly to restart engine" I attempted to start it by pushing down on the brake, that did not work. I had to shift into park, turn the key off and turn the key back on for the engine to restart.
on 2/28/23, approximatley 7:00PM Pacific Time, I was stopped at a red light at the intersection of East Robles Ave and Santa Rosa Ave for. When the light turned green, i took my foot off the brake pedal, and the engine died, the steering wheel locked up. My check engine light came on along with the steering wheel dash icon. a message flashed on the dash - "Engine Stopped Steering Power Low" It took multiple attempts to restart the car. after the third attempt of putting the car into park, and pressing the power button, the car finally started and i a was able to drive home. At the time my car had appointmently 185 miles on it. It is currently back a the dealership (Freeman Toyota) in Santa Rosa, but they have had 0 luck recreating the issue. It seems like other 2023 Corolla Cross owners have had this issue... The link below is to a recording of another driver expieriencing the same issue. https://youtube.com/shorts/3Pf4g40bYas?feature=share
I have been experiencing an issue with the auto stop/start function that kicks in when you brake. It's inconsistent, but sometimes when I am at an intersection or waiting to turn out onto a road it malfunctions. Initially it works as intended and turns off my engine when I brake. Then if I remain stopped for a bit, instead of restarting the engine I hear an alarm sound and the dash screen says "Engine Stopped. Press Brake Firmly to Restart" and shows the Check Engine light and the Low Power Steering warning lights - then actually states "Engine Stopped" and "Steering Power Low". When I press the brake firmly - all the way to the floor in fact, nothing happens. I have to throw my car into park and restart it. This is worrisome when I am at a busy intersection or waiting to pull out onto a road. Nobody wants their car dying on them when they are trying to work with the flow of traffic. The issue seems to happen typically at times where I have not been driving very long and am doing in-town driving with stops. I caught it on video once and it was about 2.5 minutes into my drive. If I leave the auto stop/start on, it will continue to do this at stops - so it's not just once per drive. Furthermore, the feature is not one that you can have "off" by default. I cannot find any setting to have it not turn on when the car starts - I have to turn it off using the button near the gear shift. If I am driving for a long time, it will turn itself back on. It's unnerving to have a feature that is malfunctioning that you can't turn off completely, that turns itself back on. I drive my car daily and purchased on 12/31/2022, so the battery and systems should be functioning. I have experienced this on: 1/8/2023 1/13/2023 1/17/2023 (caught on video) Took to shop 1/14/23, they could not replicate. Took back 1/26/23 with video, they could not replicate. No solution found.
