This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
When the vehicle is in motion when dark outside auto high beams do not function properly. When passing a oncoming car with brighter than normal headlights the auto high beams disengage and will not turn on for a varying amount of time. This happens both on city streets, highway, and country roads. This is a safety issue due to the fact of an increased risk of collision due too reduced visibility. It also enhances the risk of collision with animals at night especially when driving on secluded country roads. When car was taken to Toyota dealer I was given multiple excuses on why it was not working. They kept the car overnight and said they could not duplicate problem. When I showed videos demonstrating the problem and scenario of when it happens they could not give an explanation on why they did not engage in various circumstances.
