After just 18 miles of ownership, I was attempting to make a left turn up hill and had a dead peddle..no power between the gas peddle and engine. Even with the gas peddle fully pressed..NO POWER. After two more depressions I finally got the vehicle to move. This has happen 3 more times in the coming week with one having a 18 wheeler smoking it's brakes to avoid hitting me on the highway.
I finally took the vehicle in and it was run through the service department over a 3 day period. I was given a loaner car to use during this time. A day after I got the vehicle back it happened again with a dead peddle no acceleration. Took it back to the dealer and the service folks could not duplicate the problem. Sensing the service department frustration, the Service Manager had me take a drive 5-7 miles so he can observe me driving because he thought I was double footing and that 'I" was using both the gas and brake and that is why 'I' was having this problem. Also it was stated that the problem might be because I was using AFTER MARKET floor mats that could have something to do with the problem I was having.
I stopped using the vehicle after a few long road trips and because I felt unsafe in the vehicle. This last weekend I took a road trip 116 miles one way and had a dead peddle problem again making a left hand turn on a level dry surface. 2 full depressions and the gas peddle and engine finally engaged. Toyota Careline is my next option again after noticing the Dealer of this ongoing problem.
