There was a recall for this primer problem but Toyota ended it after 10 years. Escalating this was a nightmare and resulted in a middle finger from Toyota management. Most posts are of the same nature, we seem to be SOL. A repair job is around 10k or more. Has to be stripped to the metal because of the primer that was used. Wish I had a lawyer interested in a class action but I've attempted that route with a 2018 Ford 150 with the infamous 3.5 eco boost from haides.

Paint peeled off all around the car. The dealership was reluctant to take this under warranty. I tried to communicate with Toyota Puerto Rico and Dalla, Texas; they denied they were having problems with the paint and that no one has complained. After two weeks, I received the campaigned letter admitting and explaining they had problems with the White and White Pearl Colors and that they had to repaint all the cars. This was all US and Puerto Rico. They only painted where the paint was peeling off.

I wanted Toyota take the car back or paint it completely. Their salesperson was giving me half the cost by black book. This issue of taking the car back and forth for painting each part of the car lasted 4+ years. In addition, the shop communicated to me that Toyota was not paying for painting the interior of the doors, which a were peeling off as well. Let’s see what happens now since I already took the car back to the shop for repainted some sections of the body of the car.

One thing I’m sure, I will NEVER buy another Toyota in my life and/or any of my family. I was a client for more than 40 years and within this issue, they just went down the drain with me. In every place I go and the topic comes out, I tell the group what happened to me and the way Toyota handled this situation. I will keep doing it for ever. Like I said, I have been a faithful client since I have had: Toyota Corolla 1980, Corolla 1982, Corolla 1985, Corolla 1997, the first Sienna in Puerto Rico from year 1997, 4 Runner 1998, Prius C 2012, and finally, the Corolla 2014.

To me, they can go to hell.

I own a Toyota Corolla white 2014. After 3 years, the paint peeling problem start. When I contacted Toyota dealer they informed me that it is no longer under warranty, which is 3 years/36,000 miles, even thought I bought an extended warranty. We have always been very pleased with their products. I am VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED in Toyota.

I bought this 2014 Corolla S Plus with CVT transmission NEW in 2015. About a year later (around October 2016), I've noticed that the paint is coming off of the fenders at the bend where the metal folds to the inside of the trunk and hood. The paint is coming off ALL 4 FENDERS! It's not immediately noticeable because the paint is gone in the gap between the hood/trunk and the fenders, and not so much on the surface. It's worse under the hood because the paint is gone all over the area of the mounting bolts, too. The primer is still on there nicely or I would be looking at a lot of rust! I've lived with this long enough. I wonder if there's a paint warranty?
