So this complaint is something that lots of Toyota owners have... I was experiencing shaking while waiting at a stop at an intersection.
When looking at the obd2 reading the rpm was registering 630 - 720 (700 is supposed to be good but I don't know the specs for this). When the rpm goes to 630 the shaking gets worse, and when it goes to 700 all good. It seems under load with the AC fan setting 1, 2 gets worse but on setting 3 rpms raise and shaking goes away.
Upon further inspection I started from the air filter and worked my way to the manifold. Once the throttle body was removed I noticed the black soot build up on the gasket's grate design (Houston I think we got it!!) then looking at the flapper in the throttle body a good buildup of carbon.
With the right product (throttle body cleaner because it contains a film to reduce soot buildup - the carburetor cleaner strips and buildup soot faster) she was all clean and shiny again.
The rpms are now floating from 850-1000 but will lower once buildup occurs and relearning of the computer once I drive a few hundred miles... but the shaking is gone.
Toyota did nothing wrong, the grate design does catch soot or oil from the pcv but at 50K? The engine starving for air seems a little premature, maybe at 100k this starts so, people, get this done. BTW it's a $15 dollar job so charging $200 bucks is again another hack from the car companies to fix their spending problems...
