Toyota is aware that this was a manufacturing problem with many of their bright white vehicles, not just Corolla. Was it the paint? Was it their processing? Don't know, only reason I care is because I have the engineering background to understand it. The defect information is readily available on the internet. They have apparently fixed any number of the vehicles but are refusing to do mine based on a 10 year deadline that they have made decided for themselves. Kind of ridiculous since I purchased this as a used vehicle in Jan 2023, after their 10 year period expired and the paint was pristine. A few months later, the bubbling underneath started and the paint started peeling and has continued to do so.
I don't know the history of the vehicle (stored in a garage?) or any other exposures. I am in sunny Southern California and I'm guessing that has accelerated the problem. It doesn't really matter why, but the point is that Toyota knows about it, knows it's their fault, and still refuses to do anything based on a deadline that suits them. To say their attitude is lousy would be an understatement. Talk about unwilling to stand behind their products and their processes. We're going to find out just how many different versions of complaints they're willing to tolerate while I advertise their poor corporate behavior. This is barely the beginning.
