I pushed on the gas pedal to pass another car. When I did the gas pedal started accelerating to a higher and higher speed. I kept patting on the gas pedal with rapid hits, until it finally un stuck. It finally released but it took some effort. My next step would have been to turn off the key. The RPM's on the motor went very high. I new if I put the car in neutral I would have blown the motor. The RPM's would have red lined for sure. It hasn't done it since but it is frightening to say the least. I know for a fact, the floor matt had nothing to do with it !!!! period!
2009 Toyota Corolla - 14,000 miles February 8, 2010 tried to start car. It was firing up but not turning over. Turned key off. It was still firing up. It stopped within a few seconds. This happened several times the same day - unable to start the car. February 9, 2010 - in the morning, tried to start the car - it fired up but did not turn over. Kept firing up when key was turned off. Tried again and it started. Took it to the dealer and they cleaned the fuel injectors. Question - could this be related to the accelerator problem?
I bought a 2009 Toyota Corolla in Nov. 2008.I have complained to the dealer that the steering was loose(floats in and out of lane) hard to drive.also about mpg 27 highway.I brought the car in for inspections on four occasions.I was basicly "blown off"
