I wrote to Toyota below. also the dealer has shafted me and I have 10,000 miles left on my 60 month or 60,000 mile warranty... this screw up of theirs is designed to keep you going until your warrant expires... and then it becomes the consumers problem. They are telling me with a straight face that 1/2 a quart of oil usage is ok... that means @ 2000 miles I will no longer see a visual oil level on my dip stick... it becomes a guessing game whether there is any oil in the car for the next 3000 miles until the recommended oil change at 5000... what ever happened to Toyota?????

Toyota the statement below from your T-SB-0094-11. my car uses 1/2 a quart in a 1000 miles... I guess i will have to do this expensive Service bulletin in 10,000 more miles... you put the engine together wrong whether it uses 1 quart or a 1/2 quart per 1000 miles... can't believe you became so unreliable... i will never buy one of your cars again... unbelievable... what a dirty deal...

page 6 of T-SB-0094-11 • YES — Go to the Repair Procedure. • NO — This TSB does NOT apply. Warranty guideline for acceptable oil consumption is 1 quart per 1,200 miles of operation. No warranty claim should be filed. © 2011

Corolla LX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

When I was told that only the dealership could repair this problem, they had no idea why this engine needed to be replaced. I have had Fords and Kia and this car has cost me over 8000 dollars in repairs. Toyota was not helpful and did nothing to resolve this obvious defect.

Corolla S 1.8L

  • Manual transmission
  • 20,000 miles

the car is running fine now, but for that low of a mileage and for a new car its burning way too much oil. and if the its keeps burning that much oil ill have to replace the whole motor. i have alot of Toyota cars and all my other cars doesn't burn barley any oil. so im trying to get this problem fixed before the warranty is over. when i changed the oil at 20,000 miles and a quart of oil was burned, and thats too much for 20000 miles. I took the car into capital Toyota when the car had 25,000 miles and they sealed it and i came back after 2000 miles and they added oil to it they said it burned 1/4 of oil. then they sealed it again and i came back another 20000 miles and it burned another 1/2 quart of oil. so now we had them change the oil and seal it again and im going to drive a straight 5000 miles and were going to have them check it again. the guys at capital Toyota said spec is 1 quart every thousand miles, and i think that is way too much.
