When the car is turned on, it has a foul order, particularly in summer, when the windows have been rolled up. It seems to be coming from the ventilation system. We do not use the recirculation button, as the fresh air seems like a better idea since the ventilation system already smells foul. The smell upsets my stomach. We have tried replacing the cabin filter, and that did not help. We have also used products like febreeze all over the car, but that is only a temporary help.

I was going to turn into a parking spot in the work parking garage. As I moved my foot from the gas pedal to the brake, my foot knocked the floor mat causing it to jam under the gas pedal. This caused the car to accelerate into a concrete pole despite both of my feet being on the brake. I had the recall fix done to my car to insert the plastic pieces to hold the mat in place properly and was assured by the dealership that this would never be a problem; however, they were small pieces of plastic and the mat was completely unattached from both of them. The car continued to attempt to accelerate after it was stuck on the barrier until I was able to pull the floor mat out from under the accelerator. The pieces were only inserted into the carpet and not the floor boards, and the responding officer said they pulled out really easily. He was also concerned that the airbag in the car didn't deploy in this situation due to the acceleration and amount of front end damage to the car and suggested something might also be wrong with it.

I own a Toyota Corolla year 2009 which is subject to recall for the gas pedal and the floor mat (as per Toyota website) I have scheduled an appointment with my dealer hudson Toyota on 03/12/2010 to have it fixed. When I got there, my dealer refused to service my car claiming that the parts have not been provided yet by the company. Please advise me as to what should I do. Thanks

We purchased a 2009 Toyota Corolla last spring from coleman's Toyota in rockville, md. In August, we had a frightening experience. The temporary driver's floor pad became loose and crept over the accelerator, making it necessary to stop the car and remove the pad. At that time, we had not heard or seen any news about a recall, but were told by our coleman's salesman that we would have to pay $200 for front seat floor pads that would be clipped on the floor. He said Toyota did not consider attachable floor pads standard equipment in the price of a car. He finally sold me attachable pads for $40 on Sept. 18, 2009. We have not had a problem since then, but we wonder why NHTSA would allow a car dealer to sell any car without firmly placed floor pads are part of the sticker price. It is now Feb. 12, 2010, and we have not received any recall notice for the accelerator problem. My wife is frightened to use the car on any major highway.
