The AC compressor stopped pumping so I had to replace it in the middle of a hot summer. Fortunately the compressor is relatively cheap compared to some and you can probably get one for around $150. If you have a few mechanical skills it isn't that difficult to change it yourself and then run it by a professional shop to have the system evacuated and re-charged. It is a little messy but there are plenty of you tube videos that show you how to change it. The local shop wanted $300 for the compressor and another $350 to replace it; Toyota would probably want $1000 at least.
