Bought the car from a little old lady who only used it to go to church on Sundays. Quickly found that when accelerating, such as overtaking or going up a hill, in fourth gear, the gearbox would jump into neutral. Ok in all other gears. Took it to a specialist, the quote was expensive. He stated that it is definitely a manufacturing defect, one may find such a fault on a car with 150 000Km, but he had never seen it on one with such low mileage. Unfortunately the car was then more than five years old and out of warranty.
I personally knew the person I bought the car from, and knew the mileage to be true. The previous owner was unaware of the problem, probably because he never overtook anyone. (He was 70 years old when I bought it from him). I have lived with it, but it can be a pain when you should really be in 4th, and have to select 3rd of 5th.
