CarComplaints.com Notes: There must have been something in the water at the plant where they built the eighth generation Corollas, especially the 1998 and 1999 model years.

Outside of a few engine related issues for the 1999, these are about as dependable a car as you’ll find. And remember most of these cars have 200k miles on them by now. But good luck finding one; owners say they want a new car, but can’t justify trading in their Corolla because the darn thing just keeps rolling.

On 02/17/2011, I observed that my passenger side front tire was partially deflated. I inflated the tire as I could not see any foreign object in the tire. On 02/18/2011, I took my car to the walmart store #0548 where I had purchased the (4) douglas(xtra-tracii) size:185 65R14 tires on 12-21-2010, the technician found a pin size crack/break in the weak point of the tire(edge of sidewall where it meets the treads), it could not be repaired since the store policy is not to repair sidewallls, the manager did not issue me a new tire, so I plugged the tire & it is now warping/deformed.

The contact owns a 1999 Toyota Corolla. The vehicle has uniroyal tiger paw radial tires. The contact purchased the tires in 2007. In may of 2009, the front driver's side tire blew out while driving at an unknown speed. The contact took the tire to a shop and was informed that there was nothing in the tire. Two months later, while driving at an unknown speed, the tire blew out again. Aaa towed the vehicle to the tire shop and the mechanic noticed that the sidewall separated from the tread again at 24,000 miles. Through online research, the contact discovered other tires of the same brand that failed at low mileages. The contact will file a complaint with the manufacturer. The contact returned to the tire shop and bought new tires of a different brand. The tire size was unknown. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 114,000. Updated 08/21/09. The tires popped holes all over it as though it exploded. They ripped apart like they were tires that had retreads put on them. We had to pay for new ones and Firestone and Toyota said since they were not the wilderness tires they would not reimburse me for them. (dot number: W18J tiresize: P175/65R14)
