CarComplaints.com Notes: There must have been something in the water at the plant where they built the eighth generation Corollas, especially the 1998 and 1999 model years.

Outside of airbag problems being reported to NHTSA, this is about as dependable a car as you’ll find. But good luck finding one; owners say they want a new car, but can’t justify trading in their Corolla because the darn thing just keeps rolling.

Defective seat belts in my 1998 Toyota Corolla. In May 03 and July 03 I had 2 of my 5 seatbelt break. Both appear to have broken in the same fashion.

The middle seat belt in the rear seat combined lap/shoulderhas a belt extender. The lap belt comes up higher than the side of the seat. Shoulder strap does not lock securely. Dealer suggests to put the child in the seat on the side because the child seat cannot go in the middle seat. Dealer cannot duplicate the problem.
