1987 Toyota Celica GT-S with the 3S-GE engine, Man what a f*cking piece of sh*t. The vehicle keeps going through throttle position sensors like mad. This is the 3rd time that iv replaced it at $97.00 being the cost. I finally got pissed off and had it on a code reader and the code reader said that the TPS is gone. Well, NO SH*T, I told Toyota that this is the third time iv'e replaced the TPS sensor in the past month and a half. They just told me that they were all probably defects. I'm sorry but it is kind of impossible for 3 different TPS' to go that are all different brands.
After pondering about it for a while I went and got a second opinion at a private mechanic and he found out it was the main engine computer causing too much current to my TPS sensor which was blowing them and that a new computer for my car would cost about $800.
My word of advise for anybody thinking of buying an import vehicle... DON'T DO IT, it isn't worth the haste of when something goes wrong because it costs twice as much to fix.
