2020 Toyota Hybrid xle, 40,000 and work COVID/Urgent care. Go to start and all lights, bells, whistles sound - the Hybrid malfunction, OCS System, Pre-Collision System, Brake Fail lights are all on. 40,000 for this beautiful car and 8 months into ownership. I was late to work, and had to uber to dealer. I was PISSED as it would not start, not with key fob on start button nothing. I tried and tried, the radio and everything worked on the son of a bitch. I would shift out of park to R and it would say shift to park and no power.
Dealer didn't have an idea, wtf. They did a software update, all good. A software update should do that - to not start a car that you rely on? I take dogs 100 miles out, no cell range, if I would've been out in country stranded with brand new car... ???
I was late for my shift, and had to uber. The dealer said, no, our shuttle doesn't run after 3. I said have one of the gals that gives out loaner cars come get me - I'm 10 minutes away, I'M LATE TO URGENT CARE COVID AND, THEY ARE PISSED. Nope, can't come get you. Took uber, loaner, and late to work.
6 weeks later, on Friday 13th, I have a surgery scheduled. I go to get in, SAME F ERRORS DEAL. I call dealer, who gives a DUH, I DONT KNOW...What is it doing - SAME THING AS LAST TIME - your software fix DID NOT WORK.
I called tow truck, second time. He tested battery. It is fine.
Just talked to dealer, said lemon law is next and I don't want it back. NOW he said, oh, it's the battery. WHAT? On a brand new car? Then he said Toyota has now fixed the software issue for the 2021, THANKS, that helps and he said he can tell by a vin # problem cars. WELL, MINE IS ONE. So he said it's the battery, and I am concerned electrical, starter, computer, hybrid system, WTF.
One more time with Lemon Law. Anyone else have this happen? I asked him to take it back and I'll take a Rav4. They had same problem. How about sending out a card or call - HEY your car has a problem, the software needs to be updated or else... NOTHING. Just let it happen and piss off your customers. I am going to sell it at CarMax. Done. I haven't bought a new car in years, no car payment. I was in horrible car accident, totalling a 2016 Camry, so I bought it brand new. NEVER AGAIN. I called Toyota Headquarters, they were snotty, garbage pieces of crap.
