We have been Toyota owners for years and not only the last 5 cars were Toyota, and currently we have 2 2010 Camry Hybrids. Both cars are consuming oil. This is likely an internal engine problem, which means getting a new engine or replacing the car. If this is the type of problem we are going to have to deal with, then we will no longer be loyal Toyota owners. Toyota needs to have a recall for this problem. Toyota engines should last a lot longer than this.
I am losing 4 quarts of oil every 3,000 miles from burning the oil. We only use full synthetic oil. We would typically get 300,000 miles from a Toyota. We would normally only buy Toyota vehicles. Our last 5 vehicles are Toyota. If this is the type of problem we are going to be faced with, we will switch to being a Honda owners!.
Long story short, my engine started making a knocking sound, took it in to Jiffy Lube, they said there isn't any oil in the pan,, they put in 3 quarts and told me to drive it over to Toyota Service which I did. I was told at Toyota that it would be too expensive to fix the engine (around 3K) They told me about the oil consumption issue, and even though I never had the oil consumption test performed, I was told that they might help me out if I show that I had the oil changed every 5000 miles and showed receipts for the last year. I was told that I have to have one of the workers at Toyota Service send in the receipts to Toyota Corporate. I have done this, and still my claim has been denied due to what they say is insufficient information. They aren't calling me back and I have been leaving messages for the last 2 weeks to find out what other information is needed.
Car has been sitting for over 2 months now. I have done everything they have asked and they don't even call back after multiple messages

This is a known issue with Toyota. They never fixed it. I have replaced catalytic converter twice. Internal oil leak. I don't drive it anymore.
