I contacted Toyota and was told there was a extension on the factory warranty to cover this issue. However the time limit expired in 2019 - they were replacing the substandard deflective sticky and cracked dashboards and it has since stopped. Apparently, they found the dashboards self heal after 2019 or if it starts happening after 2019 they are free of the problem and they just turn your head the other away and its not happening.
They claim they have been sending out notices to owners (I have not received one).
This call ended with SORRY*** and a long pause then dial tone, I did call back and made sure this was really the shocking solution to a self destructing cracking dash. I mentioned that I will need to take steps to reach out to consumer sites with this issue and they said (also feel free and contact the BBB). Wow, what a change.
This Camry was purchased new by me and is a 2009. It currently has only 70,000 miles on it, and is stored in garage. I also currently own a 2017 Highlander Limited Platinum. Luckily, I purchased a $2,000 dollar extended lifetime warranty. Thankfully I did due to the recent change in Toyotas customer satisfaction.
The Camry was fine until just this past week and the dash has starting to crack in several places sitting in the garage - it's like the dash has an use by expiration date of 01/05/21.
Sadly when I look at the dash of my Camry it is starting to remind me of the quality of the plastics in the since-defunct Yugo GV. (Why would I continue to pay more for Toyota if they do not stand behind the quality?)
