The dashboard pad has deteriorated within the last two years. It is gooey. When I have brought the vehicle in for service at the local dealership and mentioned it, it was not addressed. I called Toyota headquarters twice and they said that there was a notification but it has expired. So, they will not honor a request to replace the pad. I never received the notifications they allege they sent. The pad is really dangerous since it reflects off the windshield and is blinding when driving on the highway or city streets. The part itself costs over $1,000; I do not know what labor and tax costs are. I am the original owner of this car and have maintained it through tofficial oyota service.
Dashboard shiny and sticky causing reflection from sun to impair vision. Toyota says recall issued prior to experiencing problem "expired" January 2018 and is no longer applicable for previous recall we received when issued. Toyota wants $2700 for the dashboard not including labor.
Dashboard melts in the sun creating a sticky shiny surface that reflects onto the windshield and inhibits visibility. I cannot see out of the car during the day anymore due to the reflection.
Sticky and shiny dashboard. The reflection of the shining dashboard is causing a lot of trouble while driving. Cannot get a clear view of the road in the front when the dashboard is reflected on the windshield.

Interior head lining is coming down. It started on the back windshield. It was hanging down so I see it when I use my rear view mirror. Now it is coming off on the driver side front windshield. Also front driver visor. Also sticky dashboard.
My car has the sticky dash issue that many Toyota have. I first noticed a 'plastic / rubber' smell in the car a month after I bought it; however, the Toyota dealership said that it was the 'new car smell'. later I was told it was an ongoing issue with my cabin inlet filter. Finally the dash started becoming soft and gooey. I later found out that my car was part of a recall and Toyota agreed to replace the dash - 9 years later. I have been breathing the toxic fumes from the melting dash for 9 years, 150K plus miles.
When I purchased the car in 2015. I was informed that a recall was going to take place on the dash board. This was due to the fact that sun was making a sticky glaze to form. This is hazardous because it often creates a blinding glare during the day while driving and even while parked.
Check vsc system error, traction control light, ABS light and emergency "!" light illuminated when car was idle. Brakes became "soft". next day, light was off until after driving a few miles, again same lights came on and brakes became soft again at a stop light
I have a foul odor from my A/C unit caused by mold/mildew. Toyota did a foam/vent treatment, but the problem is still there. They will not repair the issue.
My dashboard has been melting for the last 2 month and now is a sticky and has an awful glare that is making driving very difficult for me. The dashboard is melting under the sun.
