CarComplaints.com Notes: The Camry Hybrid's first year is a mixed bag of brake actuators failing and power issues. The hybrid version even shares the same excessive oil consumption as its non-hybrid counterpart. And it hardly gets enough fuel efficiency gains to warrant the extra costs up-front or during repairs.
Toyota seemed to get their act together with later model years, so if you're looking for a used Camry Hybrid I suggest looking there.
I purchased this car for my wife on Valentines Day Feb 14, 2007. She loves the car but is very disturbed about all the chips the car has. The slightest bump will take the paint off down to the metal. She talked to the dealer where I bought the car and they said they didn't have any complaints. The bumper is especially bad. I already have about 5 places where I have no paint. Im sure that over time I will have rust. We have owned other Toyota products and have never had this problem. It is like the paint was never cured or baked or whatever they do to make the paint strong and lasting. She always keeps her cars 8-10 years and is upset of the condition of the paint. Guess I will write to the home office to see if I can get this problem taken care of. However, I am sure they will blow me off.

There should be something done by Toyota to fix this for free. Each summer the problem has gotten worse.
