1. on entering freeway, car did not respond to accelerator, & seemed to lose power momentarily. Then seemed to engage, accelerating. 2. on freeway, gas pedal became spongy, car coasted for a couple hundred feet, then pedal engaged, car accelerated. Occurred three, 3, times, different trips. 3. on turning right, on city street, engine started to run rough as tho it would stall. Worked itself out and continued w/O further trouble. 4. on two occasions, engine ran roughly when turning it on in front of the house. Weather was warm, not a factor. Ran smoothly after a block. Gas pedal again felt spongy while car ran rough. Dealer has stated that (1) "try using name brand gas" (tried; no change), (2) for probs 1 & 2 above, "it must be the new transmission." Now received fuel pump recall notice, but Toyota has "no remedy available"?! this is unsafe - pease help!!

Recall #20V682 10/28/2020. What happened to recall #20V012 1/13/2020" Toyota and the NHTSA were both aware of this problem prior to 1/13/2020. I had read about the problem online and looked on the NHTSA website for months to see if my vehicle had been affected. They can't find a fix in 2 years" I think they knew when it was manufactured. It always seemed a little off to me.

This recall is long overdue to be fixed. "if the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please contact the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline at: 1-888-327-4236 or tty: 1-800-424-9153 or file an online complaint with NHTSA." The issue with the fuel pump was first noted in January 2020 from what I can tell. There is still no fix to this potentially very dangerous issue. Consider this an online complaint. I can't find anywhere else to file one. Put some pressure on Toyota. How hard can this be to replace? thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

On 9/29/18, I leased a Toyota Camry hybrid from smithtown Toyota. Beginning within the first few month of having the car, on multiple, random occasions gasoline leaked out of my gas tank down the side of my car. It tends to be when the car has been sitting for a period of time - after work, when it had been sitting for >8 hours, when I returned home from a week vacation, and other times when it had been sitting overnight in my driveway. I would smell a powerful odor of gasoline when I approached the car, which is what would make me check the gas tank area. Several times, I witnessed the gasoline running down the side of my car. In all cases there were gasoline stains on the pavement under the gas tank. And the side of my white car has a permanent yellow streak down the side from the leaking gas. I brought it to the dealership 3 times to have them diagnose it, but they said there is no way it could be happening without the warning light going on on the dashboard because it is a closed system. They said I must be overfilling my gas tank or not tightening the gas cap enough. I have pictures of the gas leaking out after the car sat overnight, and I had already driven 120 miles since my last fill up. Even after I showed the pictures to the service manager, he still said it was impossible that it was happening. Finally, I called Toyota's corporate line and reported it. They had me go to another Toyota service center, where they found that the gas line was not connected properly, which was causing the leak. But they said it was from wear-and-tear from filling the gas tank, not a manufacturer defect (even though the car had <6000 miles on it when the leak was detected). There is a recall for 2018 Toyota Camry hybrids (J0G) for "fuel delivery pipes that may not be properly connected to the fuel hoses in the engine compartment". I think my car is affected by this design flaw.

Vehicle stall while on the 75 freeeway when I was going 70 mph. No break lights apparear while the vehicle was stopping causing me to almost crash with other vehicles on the freeway. This is the 3rd time this has happened to me. I have reported the issue several times to Toyota customer service and the dealership in cobb county Georgia but nothing is been done. I think it either the pistol or the fuel pump. Toyota case # 2009280896 & Toyota case #2 -2009281300.

There has been several misfires when starting the car, and the car sometimes goes into like an idle mode. The dashboard states 27 mpg, but I've been tracking mileage on a paper log, and the vehicle is really only receiving approximately 19 mpg. I looked to it to see what it could be, and after looking up active recalls, realized that it was symptoms of the fuel pump malfunctioning. I took it to scott clark Toyota; a manufacturer's dealer, and they refuse to remedy the situation.

When I start my car by pressing the start button, the car can't start and said ignition is not ready and many error codes show up on the screen, sometimes it takes 8 to 10 times before car can start and today it can't start at all, I went to check for the car cattery and it is fine, and we changed our key fob battery, but the problem still persists, some website said it is fuel pump issue, and I see some 2018 Toyota Camry is on fuel pump recalll but when I input my VIN, it said it is not under recall, so I am very worried that one day I will get stranded somewhere without notice and don't know what caused the issue, please help. This happens when vehicle is stationary before I start.

I purchased this vehicle 1 month ago. It has stalled on the freeway twice. I am at 10K miles. The dealer is replacing the "bad" fuel pump with another identical pump! those cars considered part of the known recall get a different pump. So I am to drive this vehicle at my own risk.

Several complaints all reported to the dealer during regular service intervals. 1. started the day I drove it new off the lot - clock radio was gaining 1 minute every week, dealer flashed system several times on multiple service appointments best it has gotten down to is gaining 1 minute a month. 2. on several occasions I would park the car for the evening 1-2 hours later someone would walk past the car notice a humming from the rear of the car, I'd go check sounded like the fuel pump running, insert key turn on ignition (not start car) turn key off noise was gone. Reported to dealer nothing found could not be duplicated. 3. started around 25K miles - car is very sluggish, and jerky on slow gradual acceleration feels like a bad plug or fuel delivery problem, can be driving down flat straight interstate highway car will hiccup spit and sputter for a second or two then resumes speed. Reported to dealer during routine service computer didn't throw a code so nothing could be done observed 0.1 mpg decrease in fuel mileage. 4. 28K-30K miles started car for work idled and shook horribly for 20-30 seconds just as I reached for the key to shut it off and drive my spare car it smoothed out and ran fine. Felt like a dead cylinder suspect a bad plug or coil pack once again reported to the dealer nothing found. 5. car now at 38K miles fuel mileage has gradually decreased from max of 37 mpg when new now down to 35.8 mpg without any change in driving habits or route. Since warranty is expired I will change spark plugs myself to see if the sluggishness subsides and mileage returns to what I considered normal for the car.

My car will randomly stall after driving several hours on the freeway and sometimes will not start up. I am concerned that it will stall while driving on the freeway leading to a crash. My car is not involved under Toyota's fuel pump recall but I have verified that my fuel pressure goes to near 0 psi when the condition happens (former Toyota technician) and the symptoms are exactly the same as outlined in the recall. I have contacted two Toyota technicians from my local dealer and said they would not be able to duplicate it due to having to drive so long and as a result they would not be able to provide a fix for me. I would be tempted to purchase a new fuel pump, however if Toyota doesn't know about this issue on my car, the part will not be updated and will likely to have the same result.

Check engine light came on and the performance of the vehicle is bad. Bad idle, weak engine, just the car is not performing properly. I used the scanner to see the code and I had more than one. P0171 P0505 P117B P0441 P0455. Fuel/air mixture is lean. And I hear the fuel pump making that noise that indicates a bad fuel pump. It's when I put the key in I hear it loud enough and if I turn the key on it does it again. When I put it on P it revs and RPM goes up and then comes down, up again down again... when stopped at a red light the car wants to move and RPM keeps shaking.

It feels like the transmission is slipping while I am driving. It has done this since I first bought the car. I told the Toyota dealership while in for service and the service rep told me that the problem is my fuel pump but they will not fix it until my car is actually "recalled" by the manufacturer. I am scared to drive it long distances or highway speeds. It happens every single day and every single time I drive the car.
